Management Accountant - Progressive opportunity - Penrith

An independently owned, medium sized business (two trading companies) are recruiting a qualified or QBE accountant to be part of their established finance team. Reporting to the Finance Manager you will be responsible for the companies management information and financial reporting across the businesses. This is a key role in the business and will suit a technically skilled and experienced finance professional seeking to develop their skills.

Core accountabilities:

• Monthly preparation of management accounts for two companies & consolidation
• Preparation of year-end financial statements for each company
• Management and leadership of the audit process
• Company Secretarial duties for all group company
• Ensuring compliance with VAT and CIS schemes, submitting returns as necessary
•  Liaison with HMRC, external auditors, joint venture partners and other third parties as required regarding statutory compliance matters.
• Lead the delivery of key deadlines across the department with focus on accuracy and timely outputs.
• Ensure that outputs and work standards meet the expectations of all stakeholders.
• Identifying opportunities to continually improve the information provided to the wider business.

Skills and Experience

• QBE or qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, ACMA)
• Excellent communication skills
• Knowledge of Sage (beneficial but not essential)
• Strong Excel skills
• Team player with ability to manage own workload and meet deadlines.

Salary & Benefits package

• Full time, permanent role (40 hours per week), standard times 8.30am to 5pm but flexibility available for starting and finishing times.
• Hybrid (1 day available) following probation period
• Holiday 25 day plus 8 bank holidays
• Pension the company contributes 3% and employee 5%.
• Company sick pay after 12 months
• The role is full time and based at their impressive Head Office in Penrith.
