Management Accountant - Lake District

A newly created key finance role, working closely with the Finance Director and operational finance team of six.  The successful individual will be systems focused; identifying improvements, efficiencies, with the confidence and ability to recommend and lead on various automation processes.

You will be the ‘go to’ finance contact for the wider business regarding commercial finance matters.  Business partnering with budget holders, presenting relevant KPI’s, analysis and supporting them to ‘add value’ within individual business units.  This role will sit on the Senior Management Team and support the Board with strategic decision making through improved visibility, systems & financial reporting.

Core accountabilities:

  • Review the management accounting systems, processes, and controls.
  • Support the finance team in the establishment of new business processes.
  • Regular monitoring of the underlying working papers and ledgers
  • Review of management accounts reports.
  • Identifying and recommending areas for improvement in reporting
  • To be responsible for a fit-for-purpose Finance System and continuous improvement.
  • Attend management meetings, to provide financial insight and analysis to support the delivery of the budget. 
  • Review of financial and operating models and assistance with the preparation of budgets and cash flow forecasts
  • Establishing strong working relationships with the Senior Management Team

What experience & skills are required for the role?

  • Excellent communication skills
  • Demonstrable experience of analytical thinking and problem-solving
  • Competent using Microsoft Office – Word, Excel (in particular), PowerPoint and Outlook
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • The ability to work collaboratively across departments.
  • Be able to handle multiple challenging priorities and assignments, communicating effectively with stakeholders. 
  • A background of working within a Finance department in a commercial organisation
  • Experience in managing a finance system and third-party suppliers.

This is a permanent, full time (39 hours), Monday-Friday.  Flexible working hours following probationary period.  Hybrid offering, ability to work from home for up to 3 days of 5.
