    Group Senior Payroll Administrator - Carlisle

    PURPOSE OF ROLE:

    Working in a team of 3, the Group Senior Payroll Administrator will provide and accurate and efficient payroll service for the groups 4 payrolls, totally c.1700 employees . This will include all aspects of payroll administration, running the end-to-end payroll cycles, dealing with complex queries, month end and year end procedures, pension and absence administration.

    The successful applicant will provide a high-quality service to employees and managers and contribute to the long-term development and goals of the payroll function. Providing an effective and efficient output of work to meet the demands of the role and promote the core values of the group.

    The Group Senior Payroll Administrator will also co-ordinate work within the payroll team, ensuring all associate tasks are completed and monthly deadlines are met.

    KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

    • Run and manage one or two of the groups’ payrolls from end to end ensuring 100% accuracy and a timely payroll service.
    • Oversee the remaining payrolls, taking accountability for the payroll administration.
    • Coordinate workloads as and when required, ensuring the ‘payroll mailbox’ is dealt with in a timely manner.
    • Assist with providing payroll related advice, guidance and support to colleagues, employees and managers.
    • Prepare the monthly payroll reports for approval from the directors and submit all BACS Submissions adhering to internal deadlines.
    • Responsible for the month end procedures for all 4 payrolls, including pension administration and reporting, third party payments and remittances, FPS/EPS submissions.
    • Responsible for the full finalisation of all 4 monthly payrolls, procedure and BACS checklists.
    • Ensure 100% payroll compliance throughout the month/year
    • Assists and in some cases, leads in the review and development of payroll processes and systems.
    • Deal with queries from employees and managers, and be the point of contact for escalated and more complex queries
    • Work with the payroll manager to create, author and develop payroll manuals, policies and procedures.
    • Provide senior departmental cover in the absence of the payroll manager
    • Work with the payroll manager to identify opportunities for continuous improvement
    • Hold monthly payroll meetings to gather feedback from colleague on the previous months’ payroll
    • Assist the payroll manager with the production and analysis of KPI reports and team targets
    • Support the payroll manager with all pension related queries and administrative tasks covering a larger number of pension schemes.
    • Liaise and build robust relationships with colleagues to create consistency and best practice and support engagement.
    • Support the TUPE process once it has been given to payroll, validate the payroll data and check all payroll related items have been actioned correctly.
    • Adopt a continuous improvement mindset – challenging existing procedures and practices and looking for continuous improvement in all areas of work that will improve the service delivery of the payroll function.

    SKILLS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

    • Strong system administration and MS Excel skills
    • Proven data manipulation and analysis
    • 3-5 Years payroll experience
    • Articulate and a strong communicator
    • Resourceful
    • High accuracy is essential

     

    SALARY & BENEFITS ON OFFER:

    • Salary £32,000 - £33,000 region
    • Working 08.30-17.00 (1 hour lunch break), Monday-Thursday (16.30 finish Fridays), Flexibility for 9am start and 30 minute lunch break.
    • 25 days Annual Leave Entitlement plus Bank Holidays
    • Option to buy additional holidays - up to 5 extra per annum
