Play a lead role in shaping the finance strategy of a newly formed, multi-entity group at a pivotal stage of growth.
We’re recruiting a Group Financial Controller to head up the finance function across a diverse group of 14 operational businesses in construction, civil engineering, infrastructure, and specialist services.
With 350+ employees across 8 regional locations and backed by a dynamic parent company, this is an opportunity to drive transformation, financial integration, and strategic performance in a complex and growing organisation.
What are the core responsibilities for the role?

Oversee group-wide financial reporting and consolidations

Manage budgeting, forecasting and cash flow modelling

Lead on audit, compliance, and statutory reporting across all entities

Drive improvements in project visibility, margin, and performance

Support the integration of finance systems and lead transformation projects

Lead and develop a dispersed finance team (currently 14 people, 8 direct reports)
Based at the Carlisle Head Office, with visibility across regional offices and involvement in key board-level decisions.
We’re Looking For?

Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA)

Senior group-level finance experience, ideally in construction, infrastructure, or utilities

Strong technical knowledge: consolidations, WIP, subcontractor management, CIS, VAT

Hands-on, commercially astute, and confident influencing at senior level

ERP/finance system integration experience highly desirable
